The Assistant Manager – Billing Department, manages the Billing Department as well as the Medical Records Department, in addition, knows all of the billing and insurance duties.  It’s aware of the surgery scheduling steps, makes deposits, handles daily detail reports, month-end reports, handle patient calls concerning billing and insurance, file insurance claims, and sends out statements.

Job Summary

The Billing & Insurance Specialist sends charges to insurance companies for all services in a timely manner, ensuring that encounters are coded properly and correctly for reimbursement. Reviews encounters to ensure that all charges are included prior to invoicing.  Obtains pre-certs if needed, verifies patient benefits, determines patient co-pays and balances owed and informs appropriate staff prior to patient’s appointment.  Is capable of filling in for the billing manager as needed and handling the daily deposits and reports.

The Medical Secretary / Check In –Registration is responsible for initial patient contact with the office. This
person will check in patients, answer phones, check-out patients (when needed) schedule appointments, obtain copies of required documents, enter patient demographics into the computer, verify insurance benefits and eligibility, collect co-pays and other clerical functions.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) assumes an expanded nursing, medical and psychosocial role in the delivery of health care to female patients. The CNM is responsible for the assessment and care of essentially healthy women throughout the Ii fc cycle including during childbearing. The CNM may also care for the newborn immediately following delive1y.

Duties of the CNM may include:

  • Obtaining a complete health histo1y with specific emphasis on the psychosocial, obstetrical and gynecologic histo1y and pe,forming physical examinations with regard to the same.

  • Supports patient care by helping providers during examinations; pays attention during the exam and collects any information and/or samples the doctor says the patient will be given as well as ensuring that any additional tests or blood work discussed is performed; recognizes and assists infirmed or disabled patients as needed to dress or to return to the caregiver.
  • Assists with office procedures and minor surgeries; cleans and sterilizes instruments per protocol; disposes of contaminated supplies; calls patients the next day as needed to check on them.
