Sherley C. Samuels, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with expertise in normal and high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, treatment of fibroids, infertility, and complex gynecologic conditions requiring advanced surgical care. She has earned the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS), a distinction recognizing advanced expertise in complex minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
In addition to providing obstetrical and gynecological care at Piedmont Newton Hospital, she also performs da Vinci® robotic surgery there. Dr. Samuels is committed to offering women the latest advances in minimally invasive techniques, helping many patients achieve shorter recoveries, less pain, and faster returns to their daily lives.
She also has been an adjunct faculty member of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership, where she has enjoyed teaching and mentoring future physicians. Building on that passion, Dr. Samuels is the founder of the Women’s Health Leadership Initiative, a physician-led mentorship program dedicated to cultivating the next generation of compassionate physician leaders through immersive clinical experiences, mentorship, and education in women’s health and maternal health equity. Family is very important to Dr. Samuels, who is a child of immigrants and is the only girl of seven children.
Her mother, a nurse, has had a special influence on her life. Dr. Samuels is a passionate supporter of healthcare for all, including immigrants.
When Dr. Samuels joined Covington Women’s Health Specialists, she relocated with her husband and her infant daughter in 2015. Since then, her family has grown in Georgia. Dr. Samuels delivered her three sons at Piedmont Newton Hospital, and she convinced her mother and several other family members to move down south!
Outside of work, Dr. Samuels enjoys traveling and participating in local nonprofit events, such as the Newton County Arts Association. She also owns and operates Neem Naturale with her husband, Dr. Steven Samuels. Learn more at www.neemnaturale.com.
